Sweet Sweet Demo Dreams
Because both sides have bases that cannot be captured there is no ’IT’ base the way there can be on other maps (Operation Clean Sweep, Strike at Karkand) Also the US’s artillery is oddly placed on the south western beachhead which is a tad in the open considering the UAV and SCAN are on board the Essex. We all played the hell out of this map when the blessed demo came raining down from above and we all collectively pulled down the shades and sat transfixed in front of our computers as if the greatest porn ever viewed were looking back at us. Ahh, good times.
Since it was all we had for a few weeks, everyone knows pretty much every inch of the 32 player map. The snipers know the best spots on the hotel, or the Factory roof, or even the crane at construction. The Engineers know the best mine placements like on the downgrade to the east of the rock or the ridge of township line heading up towards construction, they seldom see that one. The flyers know where to bomb, the choppers know who to whore. This map exists in our brains as if it were a real place. The way that damn theater from Duke Nukem does to me. I spent more time there than some places I actually LIVED at. But I digress. (shake it for me baby)
Both teams get two tanks to start, IF they feel like bringing them to the party. The main spawn tank for MEC is a bit of a drive to get it where it needs to go, so many don’t bother with it in pubs. This is not the best idea. Many like to fly in on a Blackhawk while 2 enemy fixed wing and 1 attack chopper prowl a relatively small map, also a big mistake in my opinion, although I love the Hawk. US should spawn soldiers at Rock and River, and score the tanks, likewise the APC at olive. MEC should do likewise with the APC / tank from Hotel, and bring up the tank from main spawn, or APC from construction. Anyone can get a tank at river, but only the US gets one at rock, and MEC at hotel, so it’s important to capture these enemy bases to deny the enemy the heavy armor that, in the end, wins this map.

An exit strategy
If pushed back to MEC main. Take a jeep heading down the runway (blue), then over to the hill behind construction, then climbing the hill on foot (yellow) to get us a flag, slow the bleed, and give NME somewhere else to hit. The other is a direct Jeep run to River. |
|
Jet Take off...
The enemy will be expecting (and rightly so) for all jets off the runway to cut LEFT and pull south over river, so by doing the opposite, you will have a better chance at getting off the ground and getting to target and/or bailing to grab a spawn. |
