Welcome to the Warrior Nation Battlefield Vietnam Primer
Before we begin, a quote from Master Sun Tzu.
‘Master Sun said: “The traits of the true commander are: wisdom, humanity, respect, integrity, courage, and dignity. With his wisdom he humbles the enemy, with his humanity he draws the people near to him, with his respect he recruits men of talent and character, with his integrity he makes good on his rewards (and his punishments), with his courage he raises the morale of his men, and with his dignity he unifies his command.”
So begins the story of Master Sun speaking to the King of Wu about leadership. This is the same today as it was when it was written over two thousand years ago. Back then, and even as little as 100 years ago, each commander, once he set to field, was on his own. With occasional scouts and messengers relaying what they could, the vast majority of what they did was their own accord. So the generals above them ONLY handed out officer positions and chose soldiers who they KNEW would do the job they NEEDED to be done.
Will YOU do the job needed to be done?

Battlefield Vietnam is not a huge step forward in gaming that Battlefield 1942 was when it debuted. And to be sure, even Battlefield 1942 was not the vanguard in this type of game play. Surely Tribes led the way, but it was the massive store bought beta test that was Command & Conquer Renegade that laid the groundwork for what would become Battlefield 1942. A lot of the strategy that one might employ in BF42 could be very similar to things you can accomplish here in BFV except for one small point.
NO ONE EVER USED ANY.
Yup, that’s right, in all my months of playing BF42 with WN and on other servers, not ONCE did I see anything that I would consider strategy. I'm sure the people playing may argue with me, but the simple fact is, its MUCH easier to tell your team to ‘run out and kill stuff’ then to actually have a pre worked plan to put into effect in battle. Working tacitly is tough stuff, it takes loads of time practicing with your teammates and NOT fighting on live servers, but rather finding short cuts, good hiding spots, and all sorts of other maneuvers that may not show themselves to the hectic nature of a live server.
If you’re up for the challenge, I’d like to offer you a different way to play then roaming randomly around the map with your teammates killing whatever you happen to come across. It is totally possible to win map after map this way, but without a bigger plan, you’ll never know if it was luck, or superior leadership and the work of your team that won the day. I’d rather lose knowing I played to the best of my tactical ability then win running around like a crazy person.
So lets get started, click to the next page and you’ll start to see some information, written as well as pictures and flash movies, that will help everyone understand the bigger tactical picture that could be Battlefield Vietnam. And rest assured….
