KNEWFOLKE SONG LIST B:

Break Even

Break Even

VERSE 1:
I said that you would not go.
But the odds were against us. As you well know.
How much more I would have loved.
To just take my winnings and leave loves casino.

VERSE 2:
But I would press my luck again.
Till I had much less then when I first came.
Now it seems I’m simply trying to break even in this game.

CHORUS:
And if I weren’t so blind
	I’d break even this time.
That I would not falter now.
	I’d open up my eyes.
To the good fortune in you.
	But everybody has their heart.
	To rip and tear apart.
And what they do is no business of mine.
But I want it to be known.
This heart is mine. (1st chorus go back to verse)
And it’s not up for grabs.

BRIDGE:
And everybody thinks they have the answer
Everybody seems to be ‘in the know.’
Everyone’s come to the same conclusion
I must somehow be wrong. Oh no.

Created: 1993-94
Performers: No finished version,
Information: This song was written after a particularly unlucky poker game in Clifton Heights. The drive home at 2 in the morning was roughly 35 miles and after loosing $80 it made it even longer. I sat on the couch after I got home and figured out the chord structure (without a capo go figure). It orignaly had an extra chorus/verse but I dropped them to make it tighter at a cool 3.07 minutes.
